Life is hard.
Life is really hard because you are really really busy. From PTA meetings, volunteer hours, and trying to squeeze in date night every now and again, you have a lot on your plate.
On top of it all, you fight every day to make your business as powerful and as radiant as you are.
With all the things you have to juggle, you probably feel overwhelmed. Out of balance.
Well guess what? I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be this way.
Sure, some days you’re going to feel out of wack – and that’s completely okay.
But let me tell you (and you better believe it,) you are resilient as hell. You are going to make it through the fire, and be stronger because of it.
I’ve been there. I’m a wife, a mother, and a successful business owner. I know what you’re going through, and I want to motivate you to stay grounded and balanced even on the days where life is so absurdly busy it feels unreal.
Let’s get this straight right from the start: you are going going to screw up.
There are going to be days where you miss that important call, show up late to pick up the kids, or forget to make the reservations at that restaurant you’ve been planning on going to for weeks.
But every forgotten reservation at a restaurant is an opportunity for take-out and netflix.
What I’m saying is, to keep your life in balance, you have to keep your mistakes in perspective.
You will hit bumps along the way to striking your perfect life work balance, but you have to learn from your mistakes. Every mistake is an opportunity to learn, an opportunity to grow. If you don’t take advantage of that, then you are going to miss out on some of most important lessons you’ll ever learn in your life.
How many times you fall isn’t what’s important. What is important is that you get back up.
You have a lot of fight left in you. You have the fire in your heart. Maybe you screwed up, but you’re too damn strong to let it get the best of you.
Learn from your mistakes, and sometimes you’ll even be able to enjoy them.
Every failure is a stepping stone to success.
Seriously though, all this fighting, growing, and learning can feel exhausting, right?.
You push yourself to the limit every single day. When you’re going constantly at 100%, it’s easy to burn out. That is why It is okay, vital, that you take time every day to care for yourself.
Find what fills you up, what sets that fire in your heart that keeps you going strong, and set aside ten to fifteen minutes to do that thing every day.
Yes, just ten to fifteen minutes.
If you can budget more time in, great! If not, you’ll be surprised about the transformative power of your intention. Even if you can only sneak away from all of life’s demands for a few minutes, if you commit to using that time to resting and refueling your proverbial engine, this time will work wonders for you.
And you will meet resistance. It’s so easy to believe that taking time for yourself is lazy. Selfish.
But believe me. It’s not. If you take time to take care of yourself, you’ll have more energy to pour into every other aspect of your life.
Now for me, taking time to be kind to myself looks different from day to day. Sometimes I need to go on a walk. Sometimes I need to watch someone I find inspiring giving a talk. (I love Les Brown, Eric Thomas, Oprah and Tony Robbins). Other days, I just need to shut everything out and read. (I am obsessed with #GIRLboss by Sophia Amoruso, by the way).
Anything you can do to get yourself back in balance, do it. It’s not self indulgent. It’s vital to your health. If you want your business and personal life to thrive, you have to thrive too.
But it’s not just our down-time that we need to fill up with good energy. Every second, we have to work consciously to reject negativity and step into positivity.
Can I let you in on a little secret?
My mood and productivity have sky-rocketed after I forced myself to not check any of my social media accounts first thing in the morning.
The way you feel when you wake up sets the tone for the rest of your day, and let me tell you, honey, facebook is not what I want to set that tone.
Social media is a firestorm of negativity, and it’s so easy to get sucked in.
Instead of scrolling through your newsfeed, try starting every day with positive affirmations.
Ask yourself “what makes me brilliant?” You could fill volumes with the answer, but try to capture it in one or two sentences, and write it down. Every morning, instead of scrolling through cat memes or your great uncle’s political rants, say your affirmation out loud.
Yes, say it out loud. This might make you feel uncomfortable at first, but your voice has power. Don’t be afraid to step into it. Don’t be afraid to own your radiance.
When you choose to flood your mornings with positivity, you’ll have more strength to keep your self-motivation running on all cylinders. If you want unbelievable success in your life, you have to stay motivated. You are the only person who can keep your good vibes flowing and your life in balance.
Don’t get it twisted. It’s so easy to place blame. You’re busy. You’re tired. Your car broke down. Your client fell through. But you hold the key. You are the only one who holds the power to do the hard work you need to do to get your life where you want it to be.
And believe me, when you keep your motivation up, you will do unbelievable things.
Every single day, you have a choice you have to make. You can give in, let all the things life is throwing your way overwhelm you, and throw up your hands in defeat.
But you also have the opportunity to step up. You have the opportunity every day to claim the amazing life you deserve.
But you aren’t going to achieve this unless you stay balanced.
Own your failures. Take time out of your day to love yourself. Don’t fill your space with negative social media messaging, fill it with positive self messaging. Keep up your motivation.
Believe me, it will be trial by fire, but you hold the key to step into the healthy, balanced life you’ve always dreamed of.
