How I stepped into Financial Freedom

I know how it feels. How it feels when all your investments tank, when you or your partner loses their job, when your financial situation is taking a huge toll on your life. I know how it feels to barely tread water, much less enjoy the life you’re living. I know how it feels to be on the brink of financial disaster.

I know how it feels because I used to be there myself.

A few years ago, my life was on the verge of disaster. My husband and I had to take out loans just to get by. We had a half a million dollar deficit, and we were teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. I didn’t know what to do. I was in physical pain from the stress, I wasn’t enjoying my time with my family, and honestly, I felt ashamed.

Things were bad, but I’m a fighter. I knew I couldn’t throw in the towel, when the people who I loved needed me the most. So I stood up straight and fought for the financial freedom I deserved. Every day, I fought tooth and nail for what I knew could be mine. Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy, but I didn’t have to go it alone.

Here are some of the lessons I had to learn to step into financial freedom.

I had to trust my gut, and take advantage of the opportunities that were presented to me. In the midst of our crushing debt, I had a friend present a business opportunity to me, and you know what? It sounded right. Simple as that. I knew in my gut that this would be a life changing opportunity, that I needed to explore and pursue this option.

Now, that doesn’t mean that you should always jump in head first without any research. Intuitively, though, sometimes you just know something is a once in a lifetime opportunity. So if something seems in your gut like it’s just right, do your research, learn if the opportunity you want to pursue is solid and wise, and then jump in head first.

I knew in my heart that this opportunity was right, so I jumped in and gave it my all..

I had to learn to reach out to others. I am strong and independent by nature, so humbling myself enough to reach out and ask for help was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, but boy did it change my entire life.

I reached out to people to mentor me and teach me about how to kill it in my business. I also had to reach out to people who I could partner with, who I could help achieve the same success I was starting to reach.

By reaching out, I learned and grew, and I helped others learn and grow too. I expanded my business, lifted some of my stress, and was just generally a more pleasant person to be around.

I had to learn to listen to my body. One of the hardest parts of being under so much financial stress was the toll it took on my body. I was having headaches and joint pains due to the anxiety I was experiencing.

I had to make sure I was eating a nutrient rich-diet and drinking lots of water. I had to do some physical activity every day to make sure I was staying strong and energized.

Most importantly though, I had to take breaks.

Yes, take breaks.

I know it can seem counterintuitive when you’re constantly pushing yourself to the limit, but you can only go hard if you have the energy to do so. So sometimes I just have to put everything down, take a few deep breaths, and let myself relax.

Finally, I had to learn to go hard and give it my all every damn day. No challenge is big enough to stand between you and the financial freedom that you deserve. Nothing is important enough to stand between you and the life you want to live.

So get up, and fight, every single day, for the life you deserve. Take steps towards real, tangible goals every day.

Trust your gut. Reach out for help, and reach out to lead others. Listen to you body. Go hard every single day. These things helped me get out of financial disaster, and I know they will help you too.
